Ponderings & Perspectives

through the lens of Chris Porter

About This Blog

I’m Chris Porter.  Jack of all trades and master of a few.

Photography is probably my favorite toolbox to work out of.  I also do a little marketing work along with my photography as part of my primary day job at Riverbank Products.

Along with that stuff though, I dabble in woodworking and love the outdoors, working on my garden, and all aspects of good ole country living.

There are two areas though that I’ve been told for years that I should focus on are writing and “preaching”.  Well, I’m not sure that I’m the best writer in the world and I’m pretty sure that I don’t have a calling from God to be a pastor.

My Facebook posts have taken on a longer and longer format over the years than is suitable for a social media post.  I don’t know that people read most of my ramblings but I’ve grown to enjoy writing nonetheless.  I also tend to be a fairly deep thinker, and observer of life.  As a photographer, it’s my job to see things from interesting perspectives.

So this page is dedicated to some of my personal thoughts, views, perspectives, and other ponderings about different things.

Many of the topics I plan to cover will revolve around bible study and other things of life importance.  I’m sure I’ll mix in lots of other topics too as I explore this writing experiment.  Just a quick disclaimer though I’m not a pastor, nor theologian. My Bible study notes are exactly that. They are my notes.  They are really intended more to encourage others to study God’s word for themselves.  I welcome you to disagree with my understanding, but If you do, then please make sure your opinion is an educated on God’s  I don’t claim to be an expert writer.  My grammar may not always be exactly perfect and even my opinions may not be 100% correct or cover every aspect of a topic at times, but they are what I see at the moment of writing.  Since we’re always learning and experiencing new things in life, those opinions may even change over time.  So, if you’d like to read about what I’m doing, studying, seeing in the world around me, or just curious about what goes on in my thoughts,  welcome to my crazy world.

Forgivness has Boundaries.

We’re taught and it is absolutely biblical that if you are going to call yourself a Christian, covered in blood of Christ by the grace of God through faith and forgiveness, that you have to forgive others. It’s a must. No question about it. But, forgiveness has boundaries. Forgiveness does not absolve the forgiven of consequences for actions.
